Quotables – St. Cloud State head coach Brian Idalski
"Obviously happy with the win in our first game back from break. It can be a little shaky as far as timing and getting your skating back, so I'm happy with the overall performance. I thought JoJo was very good for us and definitely earned the shutout today."
"They've worked hard since they've been back. They understand that this is the stretch run, that this is where games get tougher and tougher as we go in getting ready for and preparing for playoffs. A good first game back, we have to turn around and do it again tomorrow."
On JoJo Chobak's strong performance… "I've been impressed with her mental toughness all year long. She was fighting through traffic, tracking pucks really well and did a good job of controlling her rebounds and not giving up a lot of second and third shot opportunities. Overall, she managed the game really well back there and was solid. A big part of the W today."
On Allie Cornelius' two-goal game… "I acknowledged Allie after the game – I wanted everyone to know, 'hey, she had a great week of practice.' And that's what it looks like. It carries over to the game. I'm not surprised she did so well, she was lighting it up all week at practice, and that's what you have to do. That's where it starts. You have to be good in practice before you can expect it to carry over to games."
On Courtney Hall's excellent showing… "I challenged her coming into the weekend, if you're going to be in the top six, you have to produce. Expectations have changed. We're a little short up front, she needed to step up and make some plays, and she did that today. Now the next challenge is to string it together into back-to-back games."
Points of emphasis entering Saturday's finale… "Just getting better. We have to keep improving. You don't just come off the break and step back into where you were in the first half – you have to go back to the beginning, simplify your game, manage pucks and be smart. We have to go back to what our identity was early in the year, we have to defend well, our special teams have to be good and opportunistic when it comes to putting the puck in the net."
