BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – A stellar field featuring four of the top-7 programs in the nation are set to compete in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s 2023 Kwik Trip WCHA Final Faceoff, set for March 3-4 at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.

For their success in the best-of-three WCHA Quarterfinals, No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Minnesota, No. 3 Wisconsin, and No. 4 Minnesota Duluth have advanced to the 2023 Final Faceoff.

Annually featuring a collection of the nation’s highest-ranked programs and best players, the WCHA’s four remaining teams will compete for the WCHA Championship trophy and an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Regular season champion Ohio State clinched its first WCHA league title in program history on the regular season’s final day with a hard-fought 3-1 win over Wisconsin. The Buckeyes will meet fourth-seeded Minnesota Duluth in Friday’s first semifinal at 1 p.m. CT. The Buckeyes finished 3-1-0 against the Bulldogs this season, with two games going to overtime. The most recent matchup between the pair was on Dec. 3, resulting in a 5-4 overtime thriller in which Minnesota Duluth’s Clara Van Wieren scored the game-winner.

Second-seeded Minnesota faces No. 3 Wisconsin in the second semifinal on Friday at 5 p.m. CT. Each sweeping a series, the Gophers and Badgers extended their Border Battle reputation against each other in the regular season, where Wisconsin went 2-0-2 against Minnesota. Each program earned one shootout win, while in the duo’s most recent matchup on Feb. 11, Wisconsin claimed an impressive 7-5 victory.
