St. Thomas' Cara Sajevic and Nicole Vallario claimed the latest set of Western Collegiate Hockey Association weekly awards presented by OS Hockey, announced Monday by the league office. Sajevic was named the Forward of the Week while teammate Vallario was tabbed the Defender of the Week.
WCHA Forward of the Week
Cara Sajevic, So., St. Thomas (Shoreview, Minn.)
St. Thomas' Cara Sajevic claimed the WCHA Forward of the Week honor for the first time this season after her performance in the Tommies' series against Lindenwood. In the 7-2 win on Thursday, Sajevic recorded a two-point performance off of a goal and an assist as she helped lead her team to a 7-2 victory. Sajevic followed up with a goal in Friday's contest against the Lions.
WCHA Defender of the Week
Nicole Vallario, Sr., St. Thomas (Lugano, Switzerland)
Nicole Vallario claimed her first WCHA Defender of the Week honor of the season for the Tommies. In the series against Lindenwood, Vallario recorded one goal, one assist, and four blocked shots for St. Thomas. The senior defender also recorded nine shots on goal in the series.
