COLUMBUS, Ohio – Saturday was a record-breaking day for the No. 1 Ohio State women's hockey team. The Buckeyes (24-2-0, 21-1-0 WCHA) scored a program-record three shorthanded goals in the 9-1 win over Bemidji State at the OSU Ice Rink.
How it Happened
Jenna Buglioni scored the team's first two goals of the game, the second of which was the eventual game winner. Her second goal, scored at 8:19 in the second period, was the team's first of three shorthanded goals of the day.
The senior forward scored a goal in each period for her first career hat trick and recorded a team and career-high four points on the day. She scored the team's ninth and final goal, another shorthanded goal, to set the program record for shorthanded goals in a game by an individual player.
After scoring once in the opening frame, the Buckeyes scored four times in the second and third period. In addition to Buglioni, Webster and Amos lit the lamp in the second. Amos tallied two goals in the frame, including her second shorthanded goal of the season, to tie her career high.
Bemidji scored its only goal of the game on the power play at 14:59 in the second period.
Jenn Gardiner scored a
highlight reel goal just 1:10 into the third to bring the score to 6-1 in favor of the Buckeyes. Lauren Bernard and Hannah Bilka scored just a minute and a half apart to make the score 8-1 before Buglioni scored her final of the day at 12:32.
Sophomore goaltender Lexington Secreto played her first minutes of her career on Saturday, standing tall in net for the final 7:05 of the game. Amanda Thiele made 14 saves in the first 53 minutes to earn her 11th win of the year.

- The team's two shorthanded goals in the second period ties the program record for shorthanded goals in a period, which was originally accomplished Feb. 18, 2000, against Minnesota State.
- Ohio State finished the weekend outscoring Bemidji State, 20-2.
- The Buckeyes have won 11-straight games to extend their program-record WCHA win streak.
- Bernard, Buglioni, Riley Brengman and Hadley Hartmetz finished the game with a +5 on ice.
