WCHA Recap - Sept. 27

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Friday night action in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association saw Minnesota, Ohio State and Wisconsin each earn their first wins of the 2024-25 season. 

No. 3 Minnesota defeated No. 9 Connecticut 4-1 on the road in its season opener. The top-ranked Buckeyes defeated Bemidji State 8-2 on the road in a WCHA matchup. Wisconsin opened up its 2024-25 campaign in Madison defeating Lindenwood 12-0.

STORRS, CONN. - The No. 2/3 ranked University of Minnesota women's hockey team got off to a fast start to the 2024-25 season, defeating No. 9 Connecticut 4-1 in the Gophers' season opener on Friday evening. This win brings head coach Brad Frost to a career record of 500-109-41, making him just the sixth head coach in Division I women's hockey history to reach the mark of 500 wins.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 1/5 Ohio State women's hockey team picked up its first win of the season Friday night, defeating Bemidji State, 8-2, at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minn. Six different players scored and 11 recorded a point for the Buckeyes (1-2-0, 1-2-0 WCHA) in the win over the Beavers (0-1-0, 0-1-0 WCHA).

MADISON, Wis. – The No. 1/2 Wisconsin women's hockey team matched an NCAA record with an eight-goal first period en route to a 12-0 win over Lindenwood in its season-opening game on Friday at LaBahn Arena.
