DULUTH, Minn. - The third-seeded Minnesota Golden Gophers are returning to the WCHA Final Faceoff Championship game for the first time since 2023 after a 6-2 comeback win over the second-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes.

Ohio State took an early lead in the first period, scoring the first two goals of the game. Jocelyn Amos lit the lamp for the Buckeyes just over two minutes into the game, followed by teammate Joy Dunne, who scored at the 9:23 mark of the first. Minnesota then responded with back-to-back power-play goals. Abbey Murphy found the back of the net at the 14:05 mark of the first for her 100th career goal and 30th of the season. Minnesota's Ella Huber then scored the equalizer for the Gophers at the 18:52 mark to close out the first. The Gophers scored two unanswered in the second from Audrey Wethington (07:51) and Ava Lindsay (11:47), with Lindsay recording her 50th career point on her goal. Minnesota closed out the game with two more scores in the final period. Murphy scored her second of the game at the 8:21 mark, and rookie defender Chloe Primerano netted her first postseason goal at the 16:39 mark on the empty net.

The third-seeded Minnesota Golden Gophers will face the #1 Wisconsin tomorrow at 2:02 p.m. CT in the WCHA Final Faceoff Championship. This marks the first Border Battle matchup in the Final Faceoff Championship game since 2019.
