2025 IIHF Women's World Championship Recap - April 13

CESKE BUDEJOVICE, Czechia – Several skaters with Western Collegiate Hockey Association connections helped propel their respective teams to victory on day five of the 2025 2025 IIHF Women's World Championship. 

RECAPS & BOX SCORES 
SWEDEN 2, JAPAN 0 - FULL RECAP | BOX SCORE
- Sweden remained undefeated at the 2025 IIHF World Championship after a 2-0 victory over Japan. 
- Paula Bergström, a graduate from Minnesota Duluth, scored the first goal of the game for Sweden off of assists from current Bulldog Ida Karlsson and future Ohio State Buckeye Hilda Svensson. 
- Former Minnesota Duluth netminder Emma Söderberg earned the shutout and collected 17 saves in the victory. 

USA 2, CANADA 1- FULL RECAP | BOX SCORE
- Team USA edged Canada 2-1 to move into first place in Group A at the 2025 IIHF Women's World Championship. 
- A pair of former Minnesota Golden Gophers each tallied a point for Team USA in the victory as Lee Stecklein scored the game's first goal off of an assist from Kelly Pannek. 
- Former Ohio State Buckeye Jennifer Gardiner tallied an assist on Canada's only goal of the game. 
- Despite the loss, former Wisconsin netminder Ann-Renée Desbiens collected 26 saves in the game for Canada. 

NORWAY 3, HUNGARY 0  - FULL RECAP | BOX SCORE 
- Andrea Dalen skated in the lineup for Norway as the team kept its playoff hopes alive with a 3-0 win over Hungary. 
- Three with WCHA ties were in the lineup for Hungary in Minnesota's Emma Kreisz and the former St. Thomas duo of Lotti Odnoga and Isabel Lippai.
