Big Ten Network Matchups: Last week, the Big Ten Network and the WCHA announced two conference matchups will air on the Big Ten Network this season, with Minnesota hosting Minnesota State on Jan. 10 at 7:30 PM CT and Wisconsin hosting Ohio State on Feb. 7 at 3 PM CT.
FACEOFF FACTS
Remaining Strong: For the third-straight week, six of the eight WCHA squads were ranked in the top-15 of the USCHO poll with No. 1 Wisconsin, No. 2 Minnesota, No. 3 Ohio State, No. 5 Minnesota Duluth, No. 10 St. Cloud State, and No. 14 St. Thomas. Minnesota State also recieved votes in the latest poll.
UNDEFEATED NO MORE: In game one of the Border Battle showdown last Friday, then No. 3 Minnesota opened up the series with a 5-1 defeat of then No. 1 Wisconsin to give the Badgers their first loss since November 15 of 2024. The Gophers tallied four third-period goals en route to the victory. The win marked the first win at LaBahn for Minnesota since Dec. 3, 2021.
WCHA on the International Stage: A total of 19 current WCHA student-athletes are taking part in international events during the first week of November. Eleven skaters will lace up in the Rivalry Series between Team Canada and Team USA, while eight are competing in the Euro Hockey Tour.
11 for No. 11: Last weekend in Wisconsin’s loss to Minnesota, Cassie Hall scored the lone goal for the Badgers as she now has 11 goals in 11 games this season. Hall’s goal also marked the 50th of her career.
Big-time Buckeyes: In Ohio State’s 8-0 Win over St. Thomas last Saturday, Joy Dunne recorded four goals and two assists in the win, with three of her goals coming in the third period. This marked the second time this season Dunne has scored three goals in one period, and she is the first of any WCHA skater this season to record six points in a game.. Rookie netminder Taylor Kressin earned her first career shutout.
100 Apples: Minnesota’s Abbey Murphy tallied her 100th career assist in the Gophers' 5-1 defeat of Wisconsin last Friday.
Husky Gamer: Saturday’s game against Minnesota Duluth marked Svenja Voigt’s 100th career game played for St. Cloud State
Mega Maverick: Minnesota State recorded a 2-0 shutout over Bemidji State in conference play last Saturday as rookie netminder Kaydence Roeske earned her first shutout of the season and collected 25 saves in the win.
Young Pup: Bulldog rookie netminder Sophia Villanueva went 2-0-0 against No. 10 St. Cloud State last weekend and became the first starting freshman goaltender in Minnesota Duluth program history to win her first two games since the great Kim Martin did on Oct. 6, 2006.
