FACEOFF FACTS
STAYING STRONG: For the second straight week, six WCHA teams were ranked in the top-15 of the USCHO.Com poll with No. 1 Wisconsin, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Minnesota, No. 5 Minnesota Duluth, No. 10 St. Cloud State, and No. 13 St. Thomas. Minnesota State received votes in the poll.

SPOOKY Border Battle: Top-ranked Wisconsin & No. 3 Minnesota will open the Border Battle series on Halloween night this Friday. The Badgers hold a 58-57-16 record all-time over the Gophers as Wisconsin won the most recent meeting at the NCAA Frozen Four Semifinals with a 6-2 victory. Fans can watch the series opener live on FOX9+.

Murphy Milestone: Abbey Murphy recorded her 116th career goal on Saturday, Oct. 25, against Minnesota Duluth, as she moved into sole possession of second place for all-time career goals in Minnesota program history

Historic Tommies: On Saturday, Oct. 25, then No. 13 St. Thomas defeated RV Providence for its first-ever win inside Lee & Penny Anderson Arena

Best of the Buckeyes: In last Saturday’s 4-2 comeback victory over then No. 11 St. Cloud State, Joy Dunne recorded three goals in the third period for her first hat trick of the season, while teammate Hilda Svensson assisted on all four goals in the win for a career-high. Svensson is the only WCHA skater to record four assists in a game this season

SWEET SWEEPS: The top three teams in the NCAA each recorded series sweeps in last weekend’s action with No. 1 Wisconsin (RV Minnesota State), No. 2 Ohio State (No. 11 St. Cloud State), and No. 3 Minnesota (No. 4 Minnesota Duluth) each sweeping their respective opponents.

Point Leaders: Five of the top-10 NCAA point leaders reside in the NCAA, as Minnesota’s Murphy ranks first with 21 on the season. Wisconsin’s Lacey Eden sits at third with 17, followed by teammate Caroline Harvey (16) at fourth. Minnesota’s Ava Lindsay ranks sixth with 15, while Wisconsin’s Cassie Hall is eighth with 14.

Frozen Out: Last weekend, Wisconsin shut out Minnesota State 4-0 and 8-0 in the series with the Mavericks, as the team has now recorded seven shutouts through 10 games this season (the most of any team in the NCAA).

Winning Ways: Minnesota Head Coach Brad Frost moved into fourth in all-time wins in NCAA women's hockey history, passing Mike Carroll, and now has 537 wins after the Gophers recorded a series sweep of Minnesota Duluth last weekend.

Hukies on the Hunt: In St. Cloud State's 4-2 loss to No. 2 Ohio State, Maélie Pion recorded the first collegiate goal of her career while netminder JoJo Chobak had a season-high 40 saves in the game.
