Minnesota Duluth's Gascon Joins Wisconsin Trio of Harvey, Simms & Šapovalivová In Earning WCHA Weekly Award Winners Presented by OS Hockey

Wisconsin's trio of Kirsten Simms, Caroline Harvey, and Adéla Šapovalivová were joined by Minnesota Duluth's Ève Gascon in claiming the latest set of Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) weekly honors, presented by OS Hockey. 


WCHA Forward of the Week
Kirsten Simms, Sr., Wisconsin (Plymouth, Mich.)
Wisconsin's Kirsten Simms earned her third WCHA Forward of the Week honor of the season after leading all league skaters on the weekend with nine points. Simms recorded a three-goal, three-assist performance in Wisconsin's 10-3 series opener against Bemidji State before following up with two goals and an assist in game two. The hat-trick performance in game one marked the second time this season that Simms has scored three goals in a game.

WCHA Defender of the Week
Caroline Harvey, Sr., Wisconsin (Salem, N.H.)
For the sixth time this season, Wisconsin's Caroline Harvey was named the WCHA Defender of the Week as she led all defenders in the league on the weekend with her eight points. In Wisconsin's series-opening 10-3 win against Bemdiji State, Harvey recorded her first hat trick of the season and added three helpers. The Badger blueliner followed up with a one-goal, one-assist performance in game two, helping Wisconsin to a 6-1 victory. Harvey is now tied for second in Wisconsin program history with 138 career assists.

WCHA Goaltender of the Week
Ève Gascon, Jr., Minnesota Duluth (Mascouche, Quebec)

After recording back-to-back shutout performances, Minnesota Duluth's Ève Gascon earned the WCHA Goaltender of the Week honor. In the Bulldogs series opener against then No. 13 Minnesota State, Gascon stopped all 21 shots she faced, helping the Bulldogs to a shootout win. The Bulldog netminder then recorded a 24-save shutout performance in game two's 3-0 victory. It marked the second time this season that Gascon has recorded a series shutout. Gascon is now tied for third all-time in UMD program history with 17 career shutouts. On the season, Gascon is tied for third in the NCAA and tied for first in the WCHA with six shutouts.

WCHA Rookie of the Week
Adéla Šapovalivová, F, Wisconsin (Beroun, Czechia)
Adéla Šapovalivová earned her first-ever weekly honor by being named the WCHA Rookie of the Week for her performance in Wisconsin's series sweep of Bemidji State. Šapovalivová recorded four assists in Wisconsin's 10-3 victory on Saturday and added another helper in Sunday's 6-1 win. The four assists in the first game of the series were a career-high for ŠapovalivováOn the weekend, the Badger forward led all rookies in the WCHA in points (5) and assists (5).
